Located at Masjid Jamek Station, “Call to Prayer” is inspired by the azan—the call to prayer that echoes from Masjid Jamek, one of KL’s oldest mosques, located opposite the station. More than just an auditory experience, the azan serves as a moment of reflection, grounding us in faith and the rhythm of daily life.
Fun Facts & Details about “Call To Prayer”:
Inspired by the architecture of Masjid Jamek, it pays homage to the mosque’s cultural significance since 1909.
The installation features 1909 butterflies symbolising the founding year
115 silver butterflies of which adorn Arabesque motifs celebrating the mosque’s legacy, while 3 red butterflies honour the memory of congregants lost during the Japanese air raid in 1941.
