Where

Link Bridge, MRT Pasar Seni Station

Have you seen the Chinese opera-inspired art installation at MRT Pasar Seni Station? 🌟

Think City’s Arts On The Move (AOTM) initiative, in collaboration with MRT Corp and supported by the Ministry of Finance, brings culture into transit spaces through creative activations that enrich the daily commute.

Titled Dancing Sleeves by Tan Sher Lynn, this striking installation was originally created for Kwai Chai Hong’s Mid-Autumn Festival 2024 and has been thoughtfully adapted for the station. Inspired by the graceful water sleeves of traditional Chinese opera costumes, the work reimagines their flowing movements through abstract visuals and digital technology.

Each sleeve represents one of the five main opera roles—Sheng (male), Dan (female), Jing (painted face), Mo (older men), and Chou (clown)—capturing the elegance and heritage of this timeless tradition. Through augmented reality, the sleeves come to life when viewed through your phone, blending performance and innovation in a truly immersive experience.

Catch Dancing Sleeves on your next commute and discover the fusion of heritage and technology at MRT Pasar Seni Station up until the end of October.
